Tourists Again

With the bike in the shop for a few days and snow on the hills and more storms forecast we all decided to play car tourists for a few days. Scott motored us around Lake Tahoe, Pyramid Lake and Virginia City, then the following weekend we visited San Francisco. I will let the photos talk but we find it very hard to express in words how much gratitude we have for Scott and Joanne for hosting us for the past week and taking time from their busy lives to show us around. Yet again it is this amazing hospitality we keep encountering on our journey. A special thanks to Scott’s Mum, Lil. A busy traveller from the frozen North and a great friend.

Once the bike is back it will be on the road and a South East loop around the lower States is planned until the north warms up and the snow on the mountain passes melt.

What we find interesting is that we are seeing the places and sometimes the very spots that our friend, who goes by many names, e.g., Twisting Throttle, Blue Leader, Bubbles, and to those who don’t know his real name, Mike Hyde, has ridden by or stopped for the night at. It is only now that we can appreciate the effort it took for him to position his bike, set up the camera and tripod then stand on the bike with his arms in the air in front of a sign. Doing this all on his own. At the time the locals zooming by wondering what that plonker is doing over there, standing on his bike with his arms reaching for the sky doing a praise to the Lord. A truly mega effort for a DD riding on his own.
