Washington State

Washington, another massive State, and one of contrasts. From the mighty Colombia River, the fertile high plains farmland and the mountain passes through some fantastic National Parks. Every day was different and brought with it new scenery and animal sightings. It’s a State that needs to be explored more, but that will have to be another time. We did a loop from the coast, down the Colombia River following the Lewis and Clark trail then up around Mount Rainier National Park. From there we headed for Olympic National Park and rode up the west side of Puget Sound where the US Navy has its submarine base. We were going to stay at Port Angeles for the night but when enquiring about the ferry crossing and were told it leaves in ten minutes and there is room if you want on, we jumped on and were in Canada before we knew it.
