Goodbye Canada............. Part One

Next route for us was down to Jasper and through the Glacier Highway to Banff and Calgary. On the way stopping in to see our nieces Jacqui and Kirsten and Kirsten’s partner Bryan at their respective addresses.

We had two wet days riding to Jasper, including a dash of snow to remind us that summer was not quite here. But once we hit Jasper the clouds rolled away and we had the greatest ride through the park. Massive snow-covered mountains and the wildlife to match. Every turn produced something new.

Once out of the park we stayed a night with Jacqui and looked around the Kananaskis Resort where she works. One could get well used to this sort of accommodation and pampering. Maybe in another life.

Next it was into Calgary for some new tyres for the bike. Blackfoot Motorcycles gave us the best biking experience yet on this trip. Top marks guys and will recommend you to anyone heading your way.

Kirsten and Bryan work in one of the biggest and most impressive outdoor stores I have ever seen. A shopping experience unmatched anywhere so far. If you’re into hunting and fishing you could spend a whole day here easy. Indoor shooting gallery, fishing pond, salmon tank, deli, and a whole boating store attached all had me walking around with my jaw hanging. The mounted animal display was something else and when told how much money had been spent on acquiring these mounts, well, you could see why. Absolutely stunning.

So we spent a couple of days in Calgary with family, even helping out with a days calf branding and generally catching up on events.

From here on, it is goodbye to Canada and hello again to the US, crossing into Montana.

Canada has been a fantastic country and one we would love to come back to at some stage and explore some more. The people are so friendly and relaxed that the whole experience reminded us of home.
